Teachers Night on the Farm


CALLING ALL TEACHERS!
AG-Education Resource Fair - October 17, 2013
Are you a teacher or know a teacher eager to learn how to inegrate agriculture into the curriculum in fun, hands-on, engaging ways to teach everything from physical education to art to STEM? If so, please register to attend this FREE event where nearly 20 agricultural education providers including Wegmans, 4-H, CCBC, MAEF, the Irvine Nature Center, Spoutwood Farm, UMD-Extension, Real Food Farm, Farmer Stan and more will be on hand to provide you with take-home resources, information about professional development opportunities and field trips, and engage you in hands-on activities. Local snacks and beverages will be served at this FREE event. “Farm to Table” events at Robinson Nature Center in Columbia, Maryland


We are hosting two “Farm to Table” events at Robinson Nature Center in Columbia, Maryland on Sunday, October 20th for a price that most people have been telling us is “a steal.” However, we still have several spots for both the lunch and dinner available. Come out to Robinson Nature Center and savor the flavors of the fall harvest! Learn from Bruce Reamer, owner of Salernos restaurant in Eldersburg, MD, in a demo-style class how they integrate produce from local farms into their
meals and how you can do the same. Learn about what produce is in season and then enjoy a meal from Salernos featuring local, seasonal ingredients. Choose a light lunch or dinner with appetizer. Take home a new, healthy recipe
for your holiday entertaining. Space is limited. Registration deadline is October 17. No walk-ins.

Healing Tastes of Autumn

Tasty! Join us for this weekend's “Healing Tastes of Autumn” workshop on Saturday, September 28 from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Robinson Nature Center in Columbia, Maryland. Enjoy a trail walk through the Middle Patuxent Environmental Area, demonstrations and recipes/samples of medicinal and edible plants. The workshop is $30 per person. Family Workshop at the Ward Museum


The Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, Salisbury University, will host an Owls Family Workshop on Saturday, October 26, 2013, from 1-3 p.m. In conjunction with "A Flight of Science and Magic: The Owl" exhibit, join education staff to learn about the natural history and physical characteristics of these unique birds. This program includes owl pellet dissection, live owl specimens and hands-on discovery of the myths, adaptations and artistic creations representing these unique birds. Free to the public, and no registration is required. Activities include Owl pellet dissection, story time & craft, and live Owls. Costumes welcome!
